Rev. Mills was ordained as a deacon on October 7, 2001 under Pastor Dr. Walter Johnson at Jacob Grove Baptist Church and then in June of 2004, the Lord led him back to his home church of First Baptist in Campbellsville. From there he served faithfully on the deacon board until November 14, 2004. He accepted his call into the Gospel ministry under Pastor George P. Lee III, and on September 24, 2005, he was ordained. God has taken him to so many places and has opened so many doors for him that he could not have imagined.

He has been blessed to serve under various ministers at First Baptist Church, including the current Pastor Montel Richardson. Not only has he been blessed to serve at First Baptist, but he has been blessed to share the Word of God at several churches in the Zion District and at several facilities such as Campbellsville University, as well as various churches around the surrounding communities. On March 27, 2021, God Saw fit to answer the prayers of the family of Jacob Grove by calling him as the Pastor. He can’t thank God enough for the people that He has placed in Pastor Mills’ life to help guide him, nurture and encourage him through service for the Lord.

Rev. Melvin Mills has a motto:

“l am a soldier in the army of my God, the Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer, and the Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, Prayer, and the Word is my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity, and tested by fire. I endeavor to serve with passion and purpose as I minister with great expectations; just as Ephesians 3:20 states: ‘Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.'”
